September through to November is an exceptionally busy time for me so apologies for my complete lack of new content. The upside of having been so busy is that I have lots to share and it’s been an exciting few months holding workshops. One of those workshops being my very first Alcohol Ink workshop.
Being fairly new to Alcohol Inks myself I was a little apprehensive at teaching others. With a full house at 14 students, it was brilliant to see so many familiar faces and a few new ones. Lots of chat, laughter and tea contributed to a lovely atmosphere and of course some wonderful artwork.
We started off the morning experimenting, using Jacquard, Pinatta inks on Yupo paper and 98% Isoprophyl alcohol. We experimented with different techniques, colour combinations and ratios of ink to alcohol achieving some wonderful results shown below.
After lots of ink, alcohol and many sheets of yupo, in the festive spirit we moved on to decorating baubles and wonderful baubles they were!
After lunch, we looked at ways we could control the inks a little better and introduced new materials and techniques. We incorporated Alcohol based markers (Pro markers, Copic markers) and experimented with acrylic inks and other materials to compliment the alcohol inks. Below are just a few of the results.
